The idea

Most of protecting yourself happens long before anything physical

Most people arrive a little unsure of themselves, and that's exactly where we like to begin. Real personal protection is mostly awareness, sound judgment, and space, and every bit of it can be learned.

The physical skills matter, and we teach them well, but they're the last resort, not the foundation. We start with what keeps trouble from finding you, then build real, lasting capability around you, at a pace that stays yours.

Every session is private and unhurried. You're never rushed and never on the spot, just given the time, and the patience, to walk out genuinely more capable than you walked in.

Who it's for
Someone who wants to feel genuinely capable day to day, at home, at work, and out in public.
A parent or partner who wants to be the person their family can count on.
Anyone whose work or profile puts them in front of more people, and more risk, than most.
A complete beginner who wants to start somewhere real and unintimidating.

What we work on

Five ideas, built into every session

01

Awareness and mindset

Seeing early and thinking clearly. You'll work on how to set up in a restaurant so you can see the room, what actually draws attention in a parking garage, which changes in someone's behavior are worth noticing, and how to stay aware without living on edge.

02

Presence and prevention

How you carry yourself and hold a line. You'll practice the words and the posture that end an unwanted approach early, how to say no and mean it, and how to keep a stranger at a comfortable distance without making a scene.

03

Space and positioning

Distance is the skill almost nobody trains. You'll work through the moments where it disappears fastest: pumping gas, standing at an ATM, loading your car, waiting on an elevator, or getting a kid into a back seat.

04

Getting out

Leaving is winning, so we drill it. Spotting exits as you walk in, deciding in advance what you're willing to drop and leave behind, moving toward light and people, and what to do if it happens while you're behind the wheel.

05

Physical basics, if it comes to it

A small number of simple, whole-body skills that still work when your hands are shaking. We drill them slowly, then faster, then with a little pressure, and we never add something you won't remember six months from now.

We start with the foundations, then tailor the work to your life, whether that's home, your car, public places, or travel. You'll leave each session with a short bit of practice to do on your own, so the skills stick.

Where this actually shows up

We build the work around the places you really spend your time. Most people's sessions end up covering some mix of these.

Parking lots and garages Your car, and driving Gas stations and ATMs Restaurants, bars, and events Hotels and travel Coming home and walking in Out with kids or aging parents Rideshares and elevators Your running or walking route
How it works

From first call to steady progress

1

Book a session

Start with a single session or a package. A quick call sets it up.

2

Assessment

We talk through your daily routine, where you spend your time, what's happened before if anything has, and what specifically worries you. That conversation becomes your plan.

3

Your plan

A simple written plan: what we're building, in what order, and what you'll practice between sessions. Every session has a point and builds on the last.

4

Train

90-minute one-on-one sessions at the pace you set, with a short bit of home practice in between to lock it in.

5

Monthly readiness check

Once a month we pressure-test what's stuck, find what's slipping, and adjust the plan around it.

Inside a 90-minute session
15m

Greeting, warmup, concepts

Settle in, loosen up, review the practice you did at home, and walk through the idea we're working on today.

65m

Drilling and practical application

The bulk of the session. Slowly first, then faster, then applied to real situations, so you find out what actually holds up.

10m

Debrief

What worked, what didn't, and the short practice you'll take into the week.

The temperature here

What you won't get here

No big egos, no know-it-all attitude, no hyper-tactical operator act, and no jargon you have to translate.

We won't preach at you, and we won't make you feel small for not knowing something yet. We'll build from where you are and take you as far as you want to go, with care and patience in every interaction. What we want is simple: you, walking around with earned confidence.

Why we're the ones teaching it

This comes from real protective work

ARDENT is a protection company that teaches. What's in this course comes out of executive protection work our Agents are doing right now.

1

We protect people for a living

ARDENT runs executive protection details for clients whose risk is real, and we are doing that work now rather than remembering it. That is where this material comes from, and it is why it stays current.

2

Darryl leads, with a team behind him

Darryl Johnson built ARDENT's training and the standard behind it. His background runs through the military, law enforcement, and executive protection, the same work he now teaches. Alongside him is a small team of experienced professional instructors.

3

One curriculum, one standard

Everything traces back to the curriculum we hold our own Agents to, so whoever you train with, you're getting the same standard, taught the same way.

4

We only teach what we can do ourselves

Nothing here is theory borrowed from somebody else's manual. If we teach it, we do it, and we'll tell you honestly where the edge of our experience is rather than pretend it isn't there.

Questions

Before your first session

I've never done anything like this. Is that okay?

More than okay. Most people start here with no experience at all. Every session is one-on-one, so we go at your pace and nothing is embarrassing.

Is this self-defense or fighting?

Mostly it's awareness, boundaries, and getting to safety. The physical skills are there for the moment nothing else is left, and we keep them simple so they actually work under stress.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people start with the 4 or 8 session package. We'll be honest with you about what you need, and we'd rather you do less and keep it than overbuy.

Do you cover firearms in this course?

Firearms are their own course, Defensive Firearms, so we can give each the time it deserves. Many people train both, and we'll help you sequence them.

Can my spouse or teenager train with me?

Often, yes. Tell us who you'd like to include and we'll shape the sessions around it. If the whole household is involved, Family & Home Defense may be the better fit.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes you can move in, closed-toe shoes, and water. That's it. We provide any equipment we use, and nothing here requires you to own gear.

Do I need to be in shape?

No. Everything here works at any fitness level, and we adapt around injuries and limitations. If getting fitter is part of what you want, Fit-to-Fight is the track that pairs conditioning with these same skills.

Is it rough? Am I going to get hurt?

No. We work at a controlled pace, and nobody here is trying to prove anything at your expense. You set the intensity, and we only build up as fast as you're comfortable with.

How soon will I notice a difference?

Most people leave the first session seeing their surroundings differently, because awareness changes quickly. The physical skills take a few sessions of repetition before they feel automatic, which is exactly why the packages exist.

Where do we train?

Across South Florida. Our own space, a partner facility, or your home or office, whichever fits the work and your schedule.
